About this product

Product Information

THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER 'A love letter to Bombay told through food and stories, including their legendary black daal' Yotam Ottolenghi At long last, Dishoom share the secrets to their much sought-after Bombay comfort food: the Bacon Naan Roll, Black Daal, Okra Fries, Jackfruit Biryani, Chicken Ruby and Lamb Raan, along with Masala Chai, coolers and cocktails. As you learn to cook the comforting Dishoom menu at home, you will also be taken on a day-long tour of south Bombay, peppered with much eating and drinking. You'll discover the simple joy of early chai and omelette at Kyani and Co., of dawdling in Horniman Circle on a lazy morning, of eating your fill on Mohammed Ali Road, of strolling on the sands at Chowpatty at sunset or taking the air at Nariman Point at night. This beautiful cookery book and its equally beautiful photography will transport you to Dishoom's most treasured corners of an eccentric and charming Bombay. Read it, and you will find yourself replete with recipes and stories to share with all who come to your table. 'This book is a total delight. The photography, the recipes and above all, the stories. I've never read a book that has made me look so longingly at my suitcase' Nigel Slater

    Lovely book

Made the chicken ruby far too much oil to reduce tomatoes poured most of it out just not needed, it took a lot of cooking it took forever and I didn't like it it was too tomatoey that's all I could taste. I also reduce the salt to 1/4 teaspoon of rock salt. The minced lamb is lovely. I have not cooked anything else from it. Love the stories about mumbai I would love to go. It is a lovely book.

good content but cover had a visible tear

I love the book in terms of the content. Really wanted it as a collectible. The problem was in the quality of the cover and that its prone to damage during transport. There is a small tear in the blue cover of my book and although its small I was actually quite sad that my collectible book had an imperfection. So wasnt packed properly.

  • Fabulous book

No matter wether you want recipes or an interest in travel especially India this book is perfect! Such beautiful recipes that anybody can do but the authentic pictures that accompany the recipes the information about Bombay that is dotted through the book makes this book a fantastic read. I have travelled to India although not to Bombay and I can’t put this book down it’s so authentic I’m sure anybody would like this book as a gift or just to read for themselves definitely recommend it

  • Good value, loads of recipes

Great book with all the classic Dishoom dishes. A lot of the recipes are very long and you often have to refer to another recipe to do elements within a dish but this is typical of Indian food. So don’t expect a lot of quick and easy recipes!

  • Fabulous book about Bombay and its food

I’m still working my way through this excellent book. It’s more of a travelogue than a cookery book - taking the reader on a day tour of Mumbai’s restaurants and cafes. The photography really brings it to life and the recipes are authentic. Definitely one to dip into for a reading snack!
